An Introduction to Quality Matters

Quality Matters (QM) is a nationally recognized, faculty-centered peer review program designed to certify the quality of online courses and online components. The QM Rubric has become the most widely used set of standards for the design of online and blended courses at the college level. This one-hour workshop is intended to introduce faculty to the QM program and what they can expect in the Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) certification course. The workshop will include an explanation of the QM rubric standards, an explanation of how the QM rubric is applied to courses, a demonstration of an online course based on QM standards, and a question and answer session.

This workshop is recommended for any faculty member interested in learning more about QM and completing the APPQMR certification course.

Blackboard Collaborate Update

The Blackboard Collaborate Update workshop is a one-hour workshop intended to explain the update to Blackboard Collaborate that will be available in Spring 2015. The new Blackboard Collaborate Downloader is required for all PC users and will need to be installed in order for Collaborate to run properly. Topics to be covered include the new launcher instructions, troubleshooting issues, changes to the Collaborate interface, and a question and answer session.

This workshop is recommended for anyone currently teaching or planning to teach with Bb Collaborate in Spring 2015

Collaborate Best Practices Webinar

November 21st 10:30-11:30 Online: Blackboard Collaborate

The Blackboard Collaborate Best Practices webinar is a one-hour online workshop intended to discuss best practices for teaching courses with Collaborate. Topics include attendance and participation tips, in-class activities, group work, and classroom management. See how one online instructor has utilized Blackboard Collaborate for synchronous online delivery of her face-to-face classes with dual-enrolled students.

This online webinar will be delivered using Blackboard Collaborate and is recommended for advanced users already utilizing Bb Collaborate

On the day of the webinar, the Collaborate Room can be accessed here: Collaborate Room. Be sure to arrive a few minutes early to get your microphone and webcam set up!

What’s New With Blackboard?

With the installation of the new service pack, some minor changes will be coming to Blackboard Learn. The What’s New With Blackboard? workshop will demonstrate new features and upgrades that will be released over winter break. Faculty members in attendance will be able to view the new student preview function. There will also be a demonstration of previous service pack update features such as inline grading, setting additional time on exams for students with accommodations, and a demonstration of the new mobile grading app for iPads.
