President’s Welcome

Welcome and thank you for your interest in North Idaho College. I am excited to lead this long established and storied institution and look forward to continuing the many great traditions enjoyed by the North Idaho community through NIC.

North Idaho College is a comprehensive educational institution meeting the needs of students and business and industry throughout the region. We provide transfer degree options and the opportunity to continue your education by transferring those degrees to four-year institutions; or, if you prefer, we have a wide variety of career and technical degree and certificate programs to prepare you for the world of work. Even if you may not be sure exactly what you want to do, I would encourage you to speak with an advisor or faculty member to help you examine your educational options.

As you examine your options, please pay particular attention to the value we offer.  We are the most cost-effective option available. Whether you are seeking one course, a certificate, a degree, or personal enrichment through continuing education, I think you will be pleased with the array of educational offerings available to you at NIC.

NIC operates with an open-door admissions policy to meet the needs of individuals with divergent interests and abilities. We offer a great number of degrees and certificates in a wide spectrum of academic transfer, professional-technical, and general education programs.

NIC’s five-county service area spans more than 7,000 square miles. The college serves this vast region through outreach centers in Bonners Ferry, Kellogg, and Sandpoint, as well as a Workforce Training Center in Post Falls.

As one of three community colleges in the state, North Idaho College works to provide a variety of career pathways for students from fast-paced, one-credit classes to certificates and transfer degrees. NIC works closely with the University of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State College, Idaho State University, and Boise State University to provide transfer options for students.

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about North Idaho College. I invite you visit us at our main campus in Coeur d’Alene or at any of our three outreach centers and get acquainted with professionals that can help you take the next steps to your future.
