The Course Improvement Project

What is the Course Improvement Project?
Course Improvement Project (CIP) is a collaboration between ten faculty members and the eLearning team that will result in implementing a set of best practices for selected courses. To participate in the project, faculty must first receive the written consent of their department chair and then submit an application proposal to the eLearning team for selection.

Who is eligible?
Course Improvement Project (CIP) is for those faculty who are developing new eLearning courses or for those who want to give a current eLearning course a make-over. eLearning courses include Internet (INT), Hybrid (HYB), Web Enhanced (WEBE), and Interactive Video Conferencing (IVC).
Why should you apply?

If you are a CIP participant, you will benefit both professionally and personally. The process to create, re-organize or otherwise alter courses to make them more effective for online delivery is both an art and a science, a process that can improve outcomes, produce higher evaluations, improve student assessments and satisfaction, and provide best practices models that will inspire your colleagues. Everyone wins. Also, fulltime faculty may receive  professional development unit (PDU) credit upon their successful completion of their projects.

CIP will help you:
• Enhance your course content to make it more accessible, interesting and effective.
• Customize your course to make it more motivational and aesthetically pleasing.
• Develop learning objects that take your students through the course material in a well-planned and easy-to-follow manner.
• Employ selective technologies to enhance your online presence, making it a rich, interactive, and collaborative environment.
• Save your time! Benefit from effectiveness and efficiencies in course presentation -- less course management and maintenance.

How do I apply?
• Download and complete the Course Improvement Project application
• Download and complete the Professional Development Plan (PDU) form
• Submit the application and plan to your division office for approval
• Once you receive division approval, forward the signed application and plan form to Jamie Green in eLearning (MOL 252) on or before October 30.
