1. How do IVC classes differ from traditional classes?
A. The instructor teaches class from an originating site (classroom) which is usually on the main Coeur d' Alene campus. Through the use of a robust system of audio and video the instructor and students at the originating site have 2-way communication with students at distant site(s) in "real time", thereby providing distant students the opportunity to take regular college classes without having to travel to Coeur d' Alene .
2. Do I need to act differently during classes transmitted via IVC?
A. For the most part no, just be yourself and speak up a bit. Be aware that there is a slight signal delay of 2-3 seconds between sites.
Please minimize unnecessary sounds and behaviors which can often become distractions.
3. Can students get recordings of class sessions?
A. Classes are recorded on DVD in case a connection is lost. In limited cases the instructor may request a copy of the class session on behalf of a student in the event of a dire emergency. However, this request must be made prior to the beginning of the class; if no request is received, recordings are not saved. Requests for class DVDs must be made by the instructor; requests will not be accepted from students.
4. Will I ever meet my instructors in person?
A. Instructors generally teach class from the originating site, usually on the Coeur d" Alene campus, but they do occasionally travel to distant sites to teach the class from there and to meet students at those locations.
