Welcome to Financial Aid
Welcome new and current students to the North Idaho College Financial Aid website. Students are required, each and every school year, to complete the Financial Aid Process (steps 1-5 shown below).
Important Notes
- If you received an e-mail regarding Work Study eligibility and also have loans you will need to submit your Work Study before or on Wednesday, September 1st.
- If you are required to appeal then Appeal Forms must be submitted by September 10th to ensure they are reviewed by September 16th.
- BOOKSTORE CHARGES HAVE ENDED
- Residual Financial Aid checks will be disbursed on September 2nd. Please note that all checks will be mailed. Update your address with the Admissions Office. Delayed Loans will be mailed on September 23rd.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) all correspondence with the Financial Aid Office must go through your student e-mail. Please set up your e-mail account through your MyNIC account.
- All 2010 - 2011 Students accepting Loans will need to complete a Direct Loan Master Promissory Note .
- The Financial Aid Office is going Paperless. Please activate your NIC e-mail address through your MyNIC account to be able to receive important announcements from our office

The Process
Step 1.Apply for Financial Aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). NIC's School Code is 001623. If you need help filling out your FAFSA, contact the Center for New Directions at (208) 769-3445.
Step 2.
Once your Application is received by the Department of Education you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). This is for your records only. NIC will receive your application from the U.S. Department of Education shortly after you have received your SAR.
Step 3.
Some students are selected by the U.S. Department of Education for Verification. If selected for Verification, you will be required to submit additional Documents. If not selected go on to step 4.
Step 4.
You will receive an Award Letter in the mail or you can print a copy from your MyNIC account. You are required to turn in a signed copy to the Financial Aid Office to accept desired aid for the 2009 - 2010 award year. The 2010 - 2011 Award Letter must be turned in if you want to accept a loan.
