The Week That Was & The Week That Will Be
We opened this web page to share the news from the Office of Instruction, and to provide an opportunity for others to provide the feedback we need to continually improve how the office performs.
To All Faculty, Division Chairs, and Division Assistants:
There have been many discussions over the past few months about getting consistent information into syllabi. Syllabus Builder provides a way to do that. With the start of Spring 2010, every faculty member will be expected to create a syllabus in Syllabus Builder for each class taught. Faculty will be able to state course requirements, attendance policies, etc. as they pertain to each class. The information that comes from the division or vice president for instruction level will automatically be filled in.
If faculty have never done this before, division assistants can help, or training is available from Loralee Haarr or Lloyd Duman.
Message to Instructional Staff from the Vice President for Instruction
To Faculty and Instructional Staff
I struggle for the words that would truly and adequately express the depth of my appreciation for all that you have done to serve the students of North Idaho College. Over the past six months you have demonstrated unparalleled devotion to the college and our students.
I have been amazed by your ability to accommodate the 800 new students that have been added to our classes the last two semesters. The steps you have taken, including adding sections, adding seats to classes, doing overloads, managing wait lists, and creating unique scheduling options, has been nothing short of miraculous.
Please know that I very much appreciate all of the work you have done to make North Idaho College the place that truly does change lives for the better.
Thornton Wilder once said, "We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." I'm alive in this moment because my heart is aware of the treasures that are you - the instructional staff of NIC. Thank you.
