Steps for
New Students - Degree Seeking
If you are planning to complete a certificate or degree at NIC you are considered a degree seeking student. NIC has numerous degrees and certificates to help you achieve your educational and career goals. To explore our programs please browse through the Programs and Degrees Offered link on the right.
1. Apply - Complete an Application for Admission
Print and mail the application to the Admissions Office or submit the application online.
2. Apply for Financial Aid
You may qualify for financial assistance. Apply for financial aid and scholarships online at www.nic.edu/financialaid.
3. Submit Transcripts
First time students should submit a final high school transcript or GED scores. Request for Transcript Form
4. Meet Assessment Requirement
This can be met by taking the COMPASS test, submitting ACT or SAT test scores (taken within the last two years), or by prior college coursework in English and math. (Contact the Testing Center for more information.)
5. Attend New Student Orientation Advising, and Registration (OARS)
All new students attend this event. You will be given tips about how to be successful in college, meet with an advisor, and register for classes. Here is some information on how to schedule your OARS session.
6. Pay Tuition
Pay by cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard. Payment can be made through MyNIC with a Visa, MasterCard, or debit card. More information ...
7. Purchase Books
Books can be purchased at the Mica Peak Exchange in the Student Union Building or on-line at www.bookstore.nic.edu.
