Goals, 2003-2004

   

Administrative Computing Goals, 2003-2004

#1 - Obtain and begin implementing Datatel's student information system to improve information access to students, staff, faculty and administrators.

#2 -  Develop technology training on network, telephone, voicemail and email basics for new hires at NIC.

#3 -  Locate, designate and equip a staff training facility for core software training including new Datatel system modules.

#4 -  Set archetype and standards for equipment replacement schedule (ERS) systems for information technology (IT) components.

#5 -  Select and adopt components for NIC's application development environment for vendor, student and staff contributed systems.

Communications Goals, 2003-2004

#1 - Complete the Network Infrastructure Upgrade project (phase 3) with an emphasis on network management, security and wireless access.

#2 -  Extend college network communications for voice and data to a new NIC Shoshone County Center.  Use as a voice over IP (VOIP) test case if possible.

#3 -  Develop and extend wireless network access by working with other campus departments to define standards.

#4 -  Continue to participate in networking initiatives between higher education institutions in Idaho and the Spokane area to bring the benefits of high-speed converged voice, data and video services.

#5 - Upgrade email server and add a backup server to improve the ability to backup critical information.

Computer Lab Goals, 2003-2004

#1 -  Improve access to networked resources for NIC students.

#2 -  Provide assistance to college computer labs outside of Molstead.

#3 -  Participate in Equipment Replacement Schedule (ERS) activities for the Computer Labs and other facilities.

#4 -  Fully utilize the additional resources available from the move of Compass testing from the Molstead Labs.

#5 -  Submit a training plan for the Computer Lab Supervisor and key student employees.

Instructional Computing Goals, 2003-2004

#1 -  Collaborate with Instructional Media Services to define, create and maintain standardized classroom presentation environments.

#2 -  Develop the technical infrastructure and close support for an online testing center.

#3 -  Contribute staff time and expertise to create and maintain a staff training facility to improve the ability to offer hands-on software training to NIC staff.

#4 -  Define and improve the support services to campus users and facilities with Macintosh computer systems.

#5 -  Develop wireless network access projects and standards in cooperation with Networking and Systems.
