Departmental Goals, 2004-2005
Administrative Computing Goals, 2004-2005

#1:  Complete the implementation of Datatel's student information system to improve information access to students, staff, faculty and administrators.

#2:  Extend technology training on network, telephone, voicemail and email basics for new hires and others.

#3:  Increase uptime on administrative office PC equipment through the use of remote support software.

#4:  Set archetype and standards for equipment replacement schedule (ERS) systems for information technology (IT) components.

#5:  Select and adopt components for NIC's application development environment for vendor, student and staff contributed systems.

Communications Goals, 2004-2005

#1:  Improve secure access and authentication of network users by implementing the Windows Active Directory plan and acquiring network management software (when funded).

#2:  Extend college network communications for voice, data and video to the Health Sciences Building and the new NIC Shoshone County Center in Kellogg.

#3:  Secure and extend wireless network access by acquiring standard security tools and additional wireless access points.

#4:  Bring the benefits of high-speed converged voice, data and video services to instructional initiatives with Idaho and Washington higher education institutions via attachments to VPNet and other regional networks.

#5:  Provide responsive and reliable voice and data services by upgrading switches and servers via the Server and UPS replacement schedules.

#6:  Complete the Computer Services reorganization by revising roles and responsibilities across the Network and Systems staff.

Computer Lab Goals, 2004-2005

#1:  Improve access to networked resources for NIC students by creating open labs at Riverbend and Shoshone Center.

#2:  Publish lab usage statistics on a Computer Lab webpage.

#3:  Provide excellent equipment by continuing the Equipment Replacement Schedule (ERS) for Molstead and Sandpoint Center computer labs.

#4:  Create a professional development plan for the Computer Lab Supervisor including job related technical training.

#5:  Train 50% of Molstead computer Lab student employees using LearnKey and other online training sources.

Instructional Computing Goals, 2004-2005

#1:  Develop instructional computing support for program initiatives at Riverbend, Shoshone Center and the Health Sciences building.

#2:  Extend secure wireless network access to students and faculty in classrooms and other areas where they can use wireless devices.

#3:  Create the ability to utilize digital multimedia in campus classrooms and labs.

#4:  Conduct trainings on classroom presentation technologies using the capabilities of the Employee Learning Facility (ELF).

#5:  Develop combined services to assist faculty and students in collaboration with eLearning and Instructional Media Services.
