New Network Drop -
$325/system A new network drop (from the wall to the computer/printer) costs $325/system (or $200 for a lab), and it covers the following:
This chargeback amount is based upon a 10/100 Base T network card for ISA, PCI, and MCA bus PCs or an Apple transceiver for Macintosh PCs, the cable from the wall to the PC, the network software drivers required to connect to the campus-wide network and a set of software applications via network (word processing, spreadsheet, database, anti-virus and productivity software). What the charge back does not cover, but what everyone should be aware of, is from the wall plate back to the server. This includes a combination of the following: labor, fiber optic cable, twisted pair cable, co-ax cable, routers, hubs, switches, bridges, gateways, servers and any software, maintenance and upgrades required to make these network components work. These items are covered under a different budget, and the end user does not get charged for them. Computer Services absorbs the back-end cost.
