Virus Recovery Teams have been formed at NIC and are working to visit all college buildings. Computers will be "greentagged" and allowed to attach to network services so that computer related business and learning activities can continue.
The NIC Virus Recovery Teams with the assistance of Microsoft Forefront Anti-Malware support teams have created a process by which campus computers can be cleaned, protected and brought back online. There are two strains of the polymorphic virus named virut.bm and virut.bh that are present at NIC. Both strains are being eradicated by the Virus Recovery Teams.
"Greentagged" computers are certified virus-free. They are cleared to resume network access and to use the following services:
Internet Access
Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook e-mail
Datatel
Spock file server (Spock access is read-only until the virus threat is eliminated campus-wide.)
Lemhi access (Lemhi access is read-only)
