New Hardware Purchases

The following can be used as a reference for NIC faculty and staff when purchasing hardware.  It provides an estimate of pricing structures used by approved vendors for desktop computing.  To order, see purchasing procedures.

There are pros and cons to both Inkjet and LaserJet printers.  To help determine which is the best for your situation, visit Inkjet vs. LaserJet, or contact your service provider.

Proper surge protection is required and ordered with all new systems.  If the existing PC already has a high quality surge protector, it is "rolled over" with the PC to the new user.  (NOTE: Simple multi-plug outlets and/or power strips are not adequate for surge protection.)
