  NIC Help Desk

 

Hardware

Hardware includes PCs, Macs, monitors, printers, scanners and other input devices.

  • StudentsThe Help Desk does not provide support for personal equipment. For hardware issues, please consult the vendor.
  • Faculty/Staff – The NIC Help Desk is the front-line computer support group for all hardware issues. We have technicians and specialists on hand who can provide repair and replacement of non-functioning  hardware. Individual departments and divisions are responsible for the budgeting and purchase of hardware equipment. Limited manufacturer warranties are usually good from one to three years beyond the initial purchase date of the equipment. Beyond this, a repair budget is available to keep equipment running. Software

The Help Desk supports standardized campus software only. Specialized software support is the responsibility of the user. For a list of Standard Applications, click here.

  • Students The Help Desk will aid in troubleshooting standard applications.  For other software issues, consult the vendor.
  • Faculty/Staff  The Help Desk is the front-line support group for all of your software problems, questions, and requests. We have a team of technicians and specialists to assist you with your software needs. Please contact the Help Desk at 769-3280 or e-mail us at helpdesk@nic.edu .

Phones

Computer Services provides support for voice messaging and phone hardware.

  • Students - Pay phones have an assistance number, #211,  that can be dialed if money is lost during use or if repair is needed. Dialing #211 should give you three options for a refund assuming there is a dial tone. If no dial tone is present, contact the Help Desk. Residence Hall phone service and support is provided through Verizon.
  • Faculty/Staff  To request phone support, new phones or phone lines, please contact the Help Desk at 769-3280 or e-mail us at helpdesk@nic.edu .  For a list of phone services offered, click here.
