Tutoring Skills

This course will provide students interested in tutoring or teaching an introduction to learning theories, styles, and techniques as related to tutoring. The topics will include active listening, effective questioning, diversity awareness, implementation of tutoring strategies and assessment of learning styles and study skills. Participatory classroom activities will be included to develop communication, critical thinking and problem solving skills. This course will provide participants with leadership and communication skills that may be applied throughout their college experience and career. Students do not need to be a Peer Tutor to be enrolled in this course. Lecture: 16 hours
