| North Idaho College’s
Intensive English Language Program (IELP) is a small,
intensive program with an average of eight students per
teacher, offering international students a perfect
environment to learn English. |
 |
Students choose
to study at NIC’s IELP for the following reasons:
 |
NIC is
situated in a quiet, safe town that is surrounded by
mountains and lakes. |
 |
NIC has a
small international student population (30-60 students). |
 |
IELP classes
are small (5-8 students), so students receive more
one-on-one attention. |
 |
IELP
instructors have master’s degrees in TESL and/or ESL/EFL
teaching experience. |
 |
IELP
students have many opportunities to practice English with
American students. |
 |
IELP tuition
is much lower than tuition of programs at other colleges
and universities. |
 |
IELP
students spend 18 –22 hours a week in the classroom and
language lab. |
 |
IELP
graduates can enter regular academic courses at NIC
without taking the TOEFL. |
The program
emphasizes interactive learning in order to assist students in
becoming fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and listening to
American English. This strategy is well suited, not only for
preparing students to enter academic classes at North Idaho
College or at other American colleges, but also for helping them
improve their English so that they can receive better jobs in
their home countries. |
