How to access e-reserves

Go to the e-reserves log in page: https://nic.ares.atlas-sys.com/ares/ares.dll

You will get a page that looks like this:

Enter your NICOnline Username (For most students, this is your first initial, middle initial, and last name in lower case) and all 7 digits of your Student ID number, including zeros (Example: 0654321).

Note that on the right, a static alert provides a link to a source for downloading Adobe reader (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html ). You will need this to view PDF documents.

The first time you log in, you will need to create an account in the Ares system. Enter your First name, Last name, 7-digit Student ID number, and your NIC Email address:

Next, you will get the Main Menu page. This page will open each time you log in. On this page you can search for and create lists of your classes and items on reserve.

If you don’t see a list of classes when you log in, or if the class you are looking for is not listed, you can do a search by clicking on the Search links in the left menu or on the page:

You can search by department, instructor, or course using the drop down boxes on the search page:

When you find the class you want, click on “Add class” to add that class to your class list on the Main Menu page:

Next, you should get a page which lists your classes with electronic reserve items:

Click on the course. You will get a list of the reserve readings for that course:

Click on the title to download a reading. You can also add items to a “Hot List” by checking the box to the left of the title. Your Hot List will appear on the Main Menu page whenever you log in:

To view a reserve item, click on "view this item" after clicking on the title:
