Molstead Library provides specialized services for faculty and staff to assist with any research needs related to instruction or personal interests.

OCLC WorldCat™ provides access to the holdings of most academic and public libraries world-wide. With few exceptions, any book found in WorldCat can be acquired by our interlibrary on your behalf. Use your employee ID number and last name to log into OCLC WorldCat™ from off campus.

Interlibrary Loan Services

All faculty and staff may request materials from libraries outside our local system. Any book found in OCLC WorldCat™ or any article found in our periodical databases that can't be accessed in electronic full-text may be requested. Use our online interlibrary loan forms to make requests.

Reserves Policy & E-Reserves

The library provides reserved materials for your courses. These materials can be print or Audio/Visual media found in our library, materials you provide out of your own collection, or electronic materials. Access to reserved items are restricted to students enrolled in your course. Please make arrangements well in advance to assure materials will be available. Please consult with library staff to ensure copyright violations do not occur.

Electronic Reserves (E-Reserves) services are now available to instructors. Provide convenient, secure, online access to your course reserves materials for your students using the Ares software from Atlas Systems Inc. Almost any print material can be made available electronically subject to technology and copyright restraints. So submit your materials in a timely manner to ensure your students' access to your course materials.

Study Rooms and Classrooms in the library

The library has three study rooms and a small, expandable classroom available to groups and instructors. The classroom has a desktop computer with Internet access and a beam projector and are available for classes or other campus activities. The study rooms are available to groups of students associated with a particular class.

Bibliographic instruction and library orientations can be arranged with our reference librarians. Contact Jim DeMoss or Denise Clark to schedule a custom tailored library orientation specific to your students needs.

Research Assistance

Our reference staff is available to conduct research, assist you in your own research, or instruct you in the research process. Let us save you valuable time by lending our experience with catalogs, databases, the Internet, and other information resources.

Acquisitions Services

If you discover that you have a persistent need for a special resource that the library currently does not own then you might consider asking us to purchase it for our collection. Not every purchase request is fulfilled, but all requests are considered. All requests must demonstrate a need related to instruction or some other need related to the mission of the college.

Netflix DVD services

To provide fast access to the DVDs you need for your classroom the library now has a Netflix account. Instructors can now find DVD's in the Netflix collection (http://www.netflix.com), fill out our request form, and then the library will put the title in the Netflix cue. The following rules apply to Netflix requests:

1. Please make requests at least 7 days in advance to assure the DVD will arrive in time.
2. The DVD may be kept for 7 days with one renewal period (7 additional days).
3. If a DVD is not returned to the library within 30 days a $50 fee will be charged to your department.
4. Netflix DVDs borrowed from the library are for classroom use only and not for personal, public, or recreational use.
5. The library can only circulate 3 DVDs at any given time. When 3 DVDs are in circulation the next request must wait until at least one of them is returned.
6. When a DVD arrives, the library will contact you. DVDs must be picked-up at the Check-Out desk within 3 days.
7. Netflix DVDs will not be placed on reserve in the library.

Support for Distance & Online Courses

The library provides support for online courses and distance education. The library maintains it's own WebCT classroom where studentgs and instructors can go to get help using the library from a distance. This is also where electronic materials can be found to support online courses.

The TILT Tutorial

Texas Information Literacy Tutorial-Learn hwo to use information resources Tutorial provides a simple yet comprehensive introduction to basic information literacy skills for you and your students. Includes entertaining modules with quizzes. Quiz results can easily be sent to the instructor by the student. Highly recommended to any instructor who wishes to integrate an information literacy element to their curriculum.

Custom Tools & Services

The library wants to accomodate any special needs that faculty & staff may have. Custom web pages, tutorials, instruction, presentations, and other services may be provided. Contact the library for any special requests and visit the library web site often to check for new online tools and information on library services.


LearningExpress Library

LearningExpress Library provides a collection of interactive, online practice tests and supporting materials for many key academic and professional licensing exams. Students may create a user profile in LearningExpress Library to get immediate scoring of practice tests, complete answer explanations, and personalized analysis of their results. Off-campus users of LearningExpress Library must log in with a 7-digit NIC student/employee ID number and last name. Once logged in, students should create a user account to save test results and get custom analysis.
