There are a few areas of the web site to which I will draw your attention.  The circled area is the link to the library catalog used for searching for books, videos, and CD's.  The area in the box is a list of our article databases that you will use to search for newspaper, magazine, and journal articles.  The catalog and the databases are covered in the catalog tutorial and the database tutorial .  Here, we will concentrate in the areas near the numbers 1-4.

Under "Web Resources" we have links to various important resources.  OCLC WorldCat is an online catalog containing nearly every book published in the english language held by libraries around the country.   "Best of the Web" links to a directory of authoritative web sites on a wide array of subjects.  These two resources will prove to tbe the most useful for research.  The others include links to top Internet search engines ("Search the Internet"), links to other area library web sites ("Other Libraries"), a tutorial about research on the Internet (TILT), North Idaho Communities ON-line (NICON), links to online reference materials ("Reference Links"), and a link to the Idaho State Library web page

"Resources For..." presents links to important online tools and information for our different patrons.  NIC Students , UI/LCSC Students , NIC Faculty/Staff , and Community Users will find information specifically for their use here. NIC distance students will particularly be interested in the Online Materials Request Form that can be found when you click on "NIC Students".  These forms are used for ordering books and articles to be sent to your home (only if you live 20 miles or more away, however).
