NIC men’s basketball ranked 22nd by national magazine

The North Idaho College men’s basketball team was recently ranked 22nd in the nation by the Sporting News Magazine.
In the Sporting News poll, NIC was ranked 22nd among all two-year institutions and not just National Junior College Athletic Association members.
NIC conference rival the College of Southern Idaho was ranked 13th and defending national champion Salt Lake Community College was ranked 24th.
NIC sophomore forward Renado Parker of Seattle, Wash., was mentioned as a top 5 player in the country while former Cardinal Shawn Henderson, also from Seattle, was listed as a top junior college player moving on.
Other mentions include former Cardinal Mac Hopson from Portland, Ore., picked by Athlon Sports College Basketball Magazine to be player of the year in the Western Athletic Conference for the University of Idaho Vandals. Also, Lindy’s College Basketball Magazine listed Hopson as the 24th best point guard in the country.
The NIC men’s basketball team will open its season at home Nov. 3 versus the Spokane Athletics All-Stars.
