MEN'S GOLF: Cardinals fall to Sasquatch in match play

In a modified best-ball, match-play format, the Cardinals fell to a very talented Community Colleges of Spokane team. The first day consisted of 36 holes at Avondale Golf Club, while the second day was 18 holes played at The Links. The golfers had to battle to stay warm and dry with wind, rain, and snow on each of the days. But, that didn’t prevent some of the players from putting up some pretty good numbers.
Branden Dalton had the lowest 54-hole total for the Cardinals by shooting 77, 68, and 74. Ben Johnson, from East Valley High School, was second for NIC with rounds of 74, 71, and 79. Dillon Williams, from Pullman, shot 71, 75, and 81.
Spokane’s Taylor Porter, who grew up playing at Avondale, was the medalist with scores of 72, 67, and 74. Corey Meyers also played consistently for Spokane with totals of 73, 73, and 69.
The final scoring had Spokane with 71 points and NIC with 52.
Next up for the Cardinals will be both men’s and women’s teams in dual matches against Lewis-Clark State College at 11 a.m. Friday, April 9 at Quail Ridge.
