GOLF: Burke and Dalton Medal for NIC at Horn Rapids

Ashley Burke and Branden Dalton both shot the lowest rounds of any competitor in the two day event in the Tri-Cities this weekend. Both players have lived up to the reputation as being the best players to ever play for the Cardinals.
Other schools playing in the tournament were Columbia Basin and Central Washington University.
Burke, from Sandpoint, shot an 82 on April 17 and followed that up with a 79 on April 18. Freshman, Kayla Lloyd, placed second in the tournament with scores of 90 and 82. Another freshman, Emily Thorud, placed third by putting up scores of 88 and 91.
The NIC women won the event with team scores of 257 and 252. Columbia Basin was second with totals of 350 and 323.
All-American, Branden Dalton, fired rounds of 73-72 to win by four strokes. Dalton is currently ranked 15th in the nation and is setting his sights on the national tournament in May. Dillon Williams, who recently signed with Lewis-Clark State College, carded a 78-76.
NIC men placed second in the tournament with Columbia Basin taking first. Team scoring went as follows: CBC- 305/304=609, NIC-309/304=613, CWU 367/339=706.
