NIC to host summer boys, girls basketball camps

The North Idaho College men’s and women’s basketball staff is encouraging area youths to utilize summer break to improve their basketball skills.
The North Idaho Boys Basketball Skills Camp June 14-17 is open to all school-aged boys.
Instruction will be offered by current NIC men’s basketball players as well featured coaches including NIC head men’s basketball coach Jared Phay, NIC assistant coaches Corey Symons and Kris Knowles as well as training professional Scott Stockwell of Precision Fitness in Hayden.
Three camps are available.
The Competition Level Skills Camp is designed for experienced players who are seeking specific and overall skills enhancement during the off-season. The camp will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and cost is $175.
The Fundamental Skills Enhancement Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily for beginning to intermediate athletes in grades fifth through 12th. Cost is $150.
The Basketball Fun Camp for third- through fifth-graders offers fundamental training for beginners. It will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon daily and cost is $80.
In addition, the NIC women’s basketball program will lead several summer camps in June.
The NIC Summer Girls Basketball Skills Camp will help players develop their skills in shooting, defense, ball handling, screens, passing technique, one-on-one techniques and position play. It will be offered from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. for grades third through sixth and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for seventh- through ninth-graders June 7-10.
Three position/skills camps will also be offered in June for girls basketball players for $80 each.
The NIC Girls Basketball Post Camp will be offered in two divisions from 9 to 11 a.m. or from 1 to 3 p.m. June 11-12.
The NIC Girls Basketball Shooting Camp will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 14-17.
The NIC Girls Basketball Guard Play Camp will be offered in three sessions from 9 to 11 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m. or 4 to 6 p.m. June 18 and again from 9 to 11 a.m. June 19.
All instruction for both boys and girls camps will take place in NIC’s Christianson Gym. All campers will receive a t-shirt.
