  • Room still available in NIC summer softball camp

    Room is still available for area youths to sign up for the North Idaho College’s Cardinal Heat pitching and position play skills camp July 25-28 at Franklin Park, located just east of Rowan and Division in northern Spokane. NIC’s softball coaching staff and players will lead the camp, which is divided into two heats, one specifically for pitching skills and the other a position play/offensive heat camp. Both heats will be offered from 9 a.m.

  • Ironman finisher to speak at NIC Booster Club lunch

    Brenda Smith, a triathlete who successfully finished the Coeur d’Alene Ironman Triathlon in 2004, will be the featured speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club luncheon at noon Tuesday, June 28 at Tony’s Supper Club, located on Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive in Bennett Bay.  Smith, the Human Resources director at NIC, plans to participate in this year’s Ironman and will be talking about the Ironman experience, what it takes to be an Ironman and how anyone can achieve a goal of this magnitude.

  • NIC presents girls summer basketball camp

    North Idaho College women’s basketball coaches and players will lead a weeklong girls basketball camp June 20-24 to help participants improve their basketball skills.

  • County Commissioner to speak at NIC Booster Club lunch

    Kootenai County Commissioner Katie Brodie will be the featured speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club luncheon at noon Tuesday, May 31 at the Coeur d’Alene Brewery, located at 209 Lakeside Avenue in downtown Coeur d’Alene.  The NIC Booster Club holds its regular weekly meetings Tuesdays at noon in the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s Shore Lounge.

  • NIC softball players earn All-Conference honors

    Four North Idaho College softball players were recently named to All-Scenic West Athletic Conference teams. Erin DuBrock, from Spokane, Wash., was named to the All-Conference first team.

  • Award winners announced at NIC Booster Club auction/banquet

    The North Idaho College Booster Club announced the winners of this year’s Athlete of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards at its annual Spring Auction and Athletic Awards Banquet May 7 at the Eagles Lodge. The award recipients are nominated and selected by the NIC coaching staff. The Male Athlete of the Year Award was presented to wrestler Justin Pearch of Oregon City, Ore., this year’s wrestling team captain and team MVP.

  • NIC's Boesel named NJCAA second team All-American

    NIC women’s basketball player Boesel earns All-American honors Second-year North Idaho College women’s basketball player Jeni Boesel, of Brewster, Wash., received second team All-American honors after leading the Scenic West Athletic Conference in scoring and three-point shooting.

  • NJCAA national wrestling tournament to stay in Minnesota

    The North Idaho College wrestling team won’t have the opportunity to compete in front of a hometown crowd for the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament, but NIC Athletics Director Al Williams said he hasn’t given up hope for 2010.   Following the submission of a bid from NIC and the Spokane Regional Sports Commission to host the tournament for a three-year run at the new Spokane Convention Center that is currently under construction, Williams received word today at the NJCAA national meeting in Charlotte, N.C., that the 2007-2009 national wrestling tournaments will remain at their current site in Rochester, Minn.

  • Elite stunt clinic offered by NIC cheerleaders April 16

    The North Idaho College cheerleaders will lead an elite stunt clinic Saturday, April 16 to give current or potential cheerleaders an advantage for the upcoming fall sports season.   Co-ed or all-female teams are welcome to participate from 9 a.m.

  • NIC interim men's basketball coach to stay at NIC

    |photo1|Jared Phay, who stepped in last September to serve as head men’s basketball coach at North Idaho College this past season, will remain as Cardinal head coach, NIC Athletics Director Al Williams announced Monday.   "Coach Phay rose to the challenge we were presented with last fall and showed his dedication to the program," Williams said.

  • NIC athletes honored for academic excellence

    The North Idaho College athletes were honored recently for academic excellence by being named to the academic honor roll for fall semester. To be named to the honor roll, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits and have earned a 3.0 or higher GPA for fall semester (or have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher through fall semester).

  • NIC to host second annual All-Star basketball game in April

    North Idaho College and the NIC Booster Club have been approved and sanctioned by the Idaho High School Activities Association to host the second annual Idaho High School All-Star Game for both boys and girls basketball April 9.

  • NIC players selected to the soccer NWAACC All-Stars team

    Five North Idaho College soccer players were selected to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Northeast Division All-Stars team for the 2004 season. NIC men’s soccer NWAACC All-Stars include Garga Caserta, a forward originally from Araqatuba, Brazil that graduated from Idaho Falls High School, forward Peter Hiel from Capital High School in Helena, Mont., and defender Lamar Kumangai-McGee, a graduate of North Central High School in Spokane. NIC women’s soccer NWAACC All-Stars are Jenny Mick, a defender that graduated from Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene, and midfielder Alicia Ward from Bozeman High School East in Bozeman, Mont. The NWAACC All-Stars games will be held Dec.

  • NIC softball player named All-American scholar-athlete

    Former North Idaho College softball player Jill Oglesbee was recently named as an All-American Scholar-Athlete for the 2003-2004 season by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Oglesbee received the award in the junior college division for earning a 3.5 GPA or higher. Oglesbee, a graduate of University High School in Spokane, played for NIC from 2002 to 2004. She maintained a 3.67 GPA during the 2003-2004 school year earning recognition on the National Junior College Athletic Association 2003-2004 Academic All-American Team in July. Oglesbee was also a two-time selection to the Region 18 Scenic West Athletic Conference All-Region First Team and was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete during the 2002-2003 season as well.

  • NIC volleyball team heads to national tourney

  • NIC soccer players earn academic honors

    Two North Idaho College soccer players have been selected to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges All-Academic Team. Forward Michael Wold of the NIC men’s soccer team was selected to the NWAACC All-Academic Team with a 3.29 GPA.

  • NIC women’s basketball signs two new recruits, two assistant coaches

    North Idaho College Women’s Basketball recently added two new players and two new coaches in preparation for the 2004-2005 season. Megan McIntyre, a 5-foot, 11-inch forward from Watsonia Melbourne, Australia, was selected as her team’s most valuable player during the team’s Australian Basketball Association championship in high school.

  • NIC’s Jared Phay to serve as interim men’s basketball head coach

    North Idaho College Athletics Director Al Williams announced today that current men’s basketball assistant coach Jared Phay will serve as the interim head coach for NIC’s men’s basketball team this season. “The interest in the men’s basketball head coaching position was even more extensive than I envisioned at this time of the school year, and the pool of candidates was impressive,” Williams said.

  • NIC head men’s basketball coach to lead Tennessee program

    North Idaho College men’s basketball coach Hugh Watson announced today that he is resigning from his head coaching position at NIC. Watson has accepted a head coaching position at a NCAA Division II school in Tennessee, where Watson hales from originally and where many of his family members still live.

  • NIC cheerleaders bring home five awards from camp

    The North Idaho College cheerleading squad returned from a recent Universal Cheerleaders Association summer camp with top awards in every category they participated in. The three-day camp held at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash.

  • New NIC Booster Club president aims to increase membership

    Linda Davis believes that with the right synergy in an organization, the sum of the whole can truly be greater than the sum of its parts. That’s why as the new president of the North Idaho College Booster Club, she plans to increase the “number of parts” by aiming to triple the 180-person membership. Davis hopes to encourage new members to sign on during the club’s annual membership drive, which kicks off in September. “Because of the fiscal wisdom of the people in the NIC Athletics Department, it doesn’t take much to make a significant difference,” Davis said.

  • Softball player named to NJCAA Academic All-American Team

  • Area youths encouraged to participate in NIC summer softball camp

    Space is still available in the North Idaho College softball skills camp for children ages 8 to 18 to be held July 26 through 29. NIC’s softball coaching staff will lead participants as they hone their skills in the fundamentals of softball, including throwing, fielding, hitting, bunting, sliding and catching. The first session for ages 8 to12 will be from 9:30 a.m.

  • Space still available in NIC fitness camp

    Space is still available in the first ever fitness camp at North Idaho College for children in first through sixth grades. NIC Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Jared Phay, who holds a master’s degree in physical education, will join NIC physical education majors and student-athletes in leading the NIC Fitness Camp July 12-16.
