  • NIC softball player signs with Augusta State

    North Idaho College softball player Alysha Krier, a starting catcher for the Cardinals for the past two years, has signed to play at Augusta State University in Georgia. Krier has started during every game during her two seasons with NIC.

  • Ironman triathletes to speak at NIC Booster Club luncheon

    Triathletes John Stone and Brenda Smith will discuss their past experiences in the Ironman Triathlon at the North Idaho College Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday, June 24 in the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s Shore Lounge.

  • NIC wrestling coach John Owen to receive Idaho Humanitarian Award

    Legendary wrestling coach John Owen, who built the North Idaho College wrestling program into a national powerhouse, has been named the 2008 recipient of the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame’s Idaho Humanitarian Award. The Idaho Award, which will be presented during the Humanitarian Hall’s 2008 Induction Ceremonies June 24 in Boise, is presented annually to a resident of the state of Idaho who has made a significant contribution to sports in Idaho. “Success can be assessed in many ways, in athletics and in life – wins and losses, longevity, respect, recognition and perhaps most of all the positive influence we have on others,” said Idaho Gov.

  • NIC coaching staff and players offer summer softball camp

    Room is still available for players ages 8-18 to sign up for the North Idaho College’s Cardinal Heat pitching and position play skills camp July 28-31 at Finucane Park, located on the northwest corner of Prairie Avenue and Fourth Street in Hayden. NIC’s softball coaching staff and players will lead the camp, which is divided into two heats, one specifically for pitching skills and the other a position play/offensive heat camp. Both heats will be offered from 9 a.m.

  • Architect to speak to NIC Booster Club

    Architect Rann Haight along with Paul D’Alessandro, owner of the local Tony’s on the Lake, will speak at the North Idaho College Booster Club Luncheon at noon Tuesday, May 27 in the Coeur d’Alene Resort’s Shore Lounge.

  • Big Sky softball standout signs with NIC
    5/14/2008
    Briggett Plenger, a softball standout from Big Sky High School in Missoula, Mont., recently signed a letter of intent to play softball at North Idaho College during the 2008-2009 season. NIC’s softball team placed second in the nation at the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament in 2006-2007.

  • NIC softball players earn regional honors

    Several North Idaho College softball players were named to All-Region teams in Region 18 of the Scenic West Athletic Conference. Infielder Kristen Burtch of Boise, Idaho and outfielder Jessica Fagan of Spokane, Wash., were selected to the All-Region first team.

  • NIC selects Kosty as head volleyball coach

    The North Idaho College Athletics Department announced that Chris Kosty was named as NIC head volleyball coach, shedding the interim title he has held since assuming the position in February.

  • NIC to host NJCAA wrestling tournament in 2011

    North Idaho College, in conjunction with the Spokane Regional Sports Commission, has been awarded the rights to host the National Junior College Athletics Association Wrestling National Championships in 2011.

  • NIC March 28-29 softball games moved to Lewiston
    3/28/2008
    Due to soggy conditions in Coeur d'Alene, the March 28 and 29 games between conference-leading College of Southern Idaho and North Idaho College have been moved to Airport Park in Lewiston, Idaho. The March 28 doubleheader will start at 2 p.m.

  • NIC softball games March 21-22 to change locations

    Due to weather, NIC's home softball games originally scheduled against Snow College Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22 will take place at Paul Lauzier Athletic Complex, located at Central Dr.

  • WOMEN'S BASKETBALL RESULTS: Lady Cards come up short in the Scenic West championship

    After two strong wins over Colorado Northwestern Community College, (96-59) and the 22nd-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins (76-67), the NIC Cardinals found themselves playing the seventh-ranked College of Southern Idaho for the Scenic West Athletic Conference championship and a trip to the national tournament. A strong start in the second half put the Lady Cards up early, but strong inside play for CSI made the difference as the Eagles pulled away with a 71-58 victory on their home court.

    Participants for the boys and girls 2008 Idaho State High School All-Star Basketball Games were announced recently by the North Idaho College Athletics Department.

  • Post Falls High School softball player signs with NIC
    2/11/2008
    Lauran Nagrone, a catcher at Post Falls High School, recently signed to play softball at North Idaho College. Nagrone was named to the Inland Empire League second team her sophomore year and to the IEL first team her junior year.

  • NIC head volleyball coach resigns; assistant coach to take over in interim
    2/7/2008
    North Idaho College volleyball coach Bret Taylor announced today that he is resigning from his head coaching position at NIC with plans to pursue business opportunities locally. After serving as NIC’s assistant volleyball coach for one year, Chris Kosty will take over the head coaching position in the interim.

  • Lake City High School softball player signs with NIC
    2/4/2008
    Amanda Krier, an infielder at Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene, recently signed to play softball at North Idaho College. Krier received Inland Empire League honorable mention her freshman year and was named to the league first team her sophomore and junior years.

  • University High School softball player signs with NIC

    Alyssa Hawley, an outfielder from University High School in Spokane Valley, Wash., recently signed to play softball at North Idaho College. Hawley was selected to the All-Greater Spokane League first team her junior year and was co-captain of her high school team during her senior year.

  • NIC women’s soccer announces 2007 awards

    North Idaho College recently announced the women’s soccer team awards for the 2007 season. Alicia Kahler, goalkeeper from Spokane, Wash., was selected as Most Improved on the NIC team and also made the All-Region 18 team. Kirsten Olson, a defender from Boise, Idaho, received the Newcomer of the Year team award. Central defender Lauren Winterholler from Idaho Falls, Idaho, earned the Most Valuable Defensive Player team award.

  • NIC softball player signs with Texas A&M

    North Idaho College sophomore Shay Craig recently signed to play softball at Texas A&M—Corpus Christi. Craig is a graduate of Timberline High School in Boise, Idaho. She played infield for NIC in the 2006-2007 season and was a member of the Scenic West Athletic Conference second team and National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association All-Region second team. Craig was a key contributor for the NIC Cardinals starting in all 75 games with a batting average of .358 with 218 at-bats, 47 runs, 78 hits, 11 doubles and four triples.

  • Former NIC wrestler competes at World Championships

    Heinrich Barnes, who competed at NIC from 2005 to 2007 and won the National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship at 141 pounds in 2007, will compete at this year's World Championships.

  • NIC to honor longtime basketball coach with naming of court

    North Idaho College will honor longtime NIC men’s basketball coach Rolly Williams by naming the court in Christianson Gym in his honor. A men’s basketball reunion reception will kick off the dedication events at 6 p.m.

As part of the inaugural Cardinal Classic, two teams ranked in the top 10 of the National Junior College Athletic Association, Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) and Illinois Central College (ICC) were invited to Coeur d’Alene to play the Community Colleges of Spokane and our own Cardinal women.

    Two North Idaho College softball players earned Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American honors for Division I of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Angie Boardman (left), an infielder from Spokane, Wash., was selected to the All-American second team.

  • NIC softball coaching staff named regional coaching staff of the year

    The North Idaho College softball coaching staff was recently named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association/National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Coaching Staff of the Year for the West Region. The staff includes NIC Head Softball Coach Don Don Williams and assistant coaches Casi Reisenauer, Ron Bradstreet and Tammy Bradstreet. The coaching staff led the NIC softball team to a second-place finish at the NJCAA national tournament, winning seven straight games following an opening-round loss.

  • NIC coaches and players to lead summer volleyball camps

    North Idaho College volleyball staff and players are offering two volleyball camps this summer for volleyball players entering seventh through 12th grades. The NIC Volleyball Complete Player Camp is designed for seventh- through 12th-graders who want to perfect their volleyball skills.
