NIC Board of Trustees announces support of KTEC
7/29/2010
During a special meeting July 28, the North Idaho College Board of Trustees signed a statement proclaiming its support of the Kootenai Technical Education Campus (KTEC) joint technical high school project developed by the Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland school districts.
The KTEC high school will complement NIC’s plans to build a professional-technical education facility on the property purchased on the Rathdrum Prairie near the KTEC high school site. KTEC will collocate high school and college technical programs, which will allow students to complete technical training from the early high school level through the college’s associate’s degree level. By relocating NIC’s Trades and Industry programs to the KTEC site, NIC could free up additional space on the college’s main campus without the cost of new buildings. In addition, this move would allow for program expansion in NIC’s general studies and professional-technical areas where students depend upon a more traditional classroom.
While NIC has been a supporter and partner in KTEC since the project’s inception, the board announced its support for the KTEC joint technical high school in advance of the Aug. 24 levy.
