The North Idaho College Wind Symphony and Lakeland High School Wind Ensemble will join up for the spring concert, “Movin’ On” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center.
“Lakeland High Schoolers have been practicing hard with the Wind Symphony to make this concert one to remember,” said NIC Band Director Terry Jones. “From classical to Star Wars, it will have something for everyone.”
The Lakeland Wind Symphony, conducted by Mark Sescilla, will feature “Sailing Songs,” by Elliot Del Borgo, “Adagio for Winds,” by Larry Daehn, and “Buffalo Jump Ritual” by Dan Bukvich.
The NIC Wind Symphony, conducted by Jones, is a community group with over 2,000 years of playing experience. The multi-generational group blends high school students, college students and community members into one ensemble to create art and a 40-plus year tradition. The group is open to the public and meets one day a week during the college school year.
The NIC Wind Symphony portion of the concert will feature “Scherzo for X-Wings,” by John Williams, “To Walk with Wings,” by Julie Giroux, “O Waly, Waly (A Rhapsody for Band),” by Jay Bocook, and “O Magnum Mysterium,” by Morten Lauridsen.
The concert will end with “Transcendent Journey,” by Rossano Galante, which will feature both the NIC Wind Symphony and Lakeland High School Wind Ensemble.
