NIC Foundation to kick off community fundraising campaign

North Idaho College and the NIC Foundation will officially kick off the Providing Opportunities—Fulfilling Dreams Community Campaign with a celebratory event at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 20 on the NIC soccer field. The event will include exciting announcements from campaign leaders including a presentation by Special Gifts Division Chair Sue Thilo on several major gifts, as well as a tally on the success of the campaign to date by the campaign tri-chairs Dick Sams, Denny Hague and Jim Coleman. The kickoff represents the beginning of the public phase of the campaign, which is designed to raise a minimum of $2 million—$1 million to equip the facility with state-of-the-art technology and an additional $1 million for new endowed scholarships. Although the State of Idaho is providing funds for the construction of the NIC Health and Sciences Building, the $11.9 million allocated will only cover the cost of site preparation, construction, fixed equipment and the basic infrastructure. NIC and its nonprofit foundation are responsible for completing the building by funding the state-of-the-art technology and instructional equipment in the labs and classrooms. The event, which will include refreshments, is free and open to the public. Information: (208) 769-5978.
