NIC partners with chamber to provide business courses
The North Idaho College Workforce Training Center in cooperation with the Idaho Small Business Development Center and the Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce will offer a series of 12 business courses this fall tailored to small business owners and business professionals.
The courses will cover marketing and advertising, managing employment issues, writing business plans, goal setting and personal professional development. They will be offered from September through December with various start dates and times to meet the needs of the business professional.
The programming was designed as a result of a needs assessment survey conducted by the chamber that found a significant need for this type of training in its membership base, according to Coeur d'Alene Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jonathan Coe.
“We're delighted to be partnering with North Idaho College in this effort,” Coe said. “As our recent survey confirmed, our member businesses need and want the business courses that NIC can provide. By working together to put these courses together, we can take advantage of both NIC's resources to put on courses and the chamber's ability to market them to the business community.”
Courses will be taught by business executives who work in the industry, such as Ginny Campbell who has worked in retail for more than 20 years as a manager for a large retail firm, Bill Hockett who is the president of a national market research planning/implementation firm and John Faivre who specializes in business management for technical personnel.
“The business people teaching the courses bring a great deal to the classroom by offering real-life experience to supplement and shape the curriculum,” said NIC Workforce Training Director Robert Ketchum.
Coeur d'Alene Chamber members will receive a 10 percent discount on registration fees.
