Community encouraged to join NIC Concert Choir

The first rehearsal for the North Idaho College Concert Choir will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31 in Boswell Hall Room 102 on NIC's main campus. Those interested in joining the choir should attend this rehearsal to become a choir member. The choir is free and open to the community and there is no limit on the number of choir members. In addition, college credit can be earned by participating in the choir, but it is not required. The NIC Concert Choir meets regularly throughout the year from 7 to 9:30 p.m. every Tuesday starting Aug. 31. The group performs once per semester, with a holiday performance in the winter as well as a spring performance. Singers do not need to audition, although they will be heard for proper placement in the choir. The placement hearing will also serve as an audition for selection to the Madrigal Singers and men's and women's ensembles. A separate audition will be held for the NIC Madrigal Singers from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 31 in Boswell Hall Room 102. Singers will be provided with music and accompaniment and those with strong musical reading and harmonizing skills are sought. The Madrigal Singers regularly rehearse Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. throughout the year. Information: NIC Choir Director Mark Haberman at (208) 661-1743.
