NIC Residence Hall advisers get involved
North Idaho College's Residence Hall is nearly full this year with 200 student residents in the state-of-the-art facility that holds 202.
Six resident advisers in the NIC Residence Hall provide all live-in support for residents under the direction of NIC Residence Hall Coordinator Tina Metzger.
“It just seems like it keeps getting better and better every year,” said Metzger, now in her second year as the NIC Residence Hall Coordinator. “We have a great staff, great residents and great programs and now a record number of students living here too.”
Each adviser serves as the point person for a specific group of residents in the hall, helping to answer questions, refer students to resources on campus, mediate conflicts, check residents in and out, enforce hall policies, conduct health and safety inspections and actively participate in hall activities.
In addition, the advisers believe it's important to give back to the community so they organize a variety of community service projects throughout the school year and encourage other hall residents to participate.
Resident advisers receive room and board and gain important leadership skills in exchange for their service as advisers.
This year's resident advisers include: Jack Knecht, homeschool, Moscow, Idaho, graphic design major; Kendra Korsvall, Boish High School, Boise, Idaho, general studies major; Krista Alonso, Bishop Kelly High School, Boise, Idaho, business major; Joey Tufts, Eagle High School, Eagle, Idaho, finance major; Kaylyn Brennan, Bishop Kelly High School, Boise, Idaho, elementary education major; and Nicky Sitton, East Valley High School, Spokane, Wash., nursing major. For More Information
