NIC Small Business Development Center to host patent researching seminar

The North Idaho College's Idaho Small Business Development Center will host a one-day workshop designed for inventors and entrepreneurs on how to conduct patent and trademark research on Friday, Oct. 8. The first session from 9 to 11 a.m. is free and will offer an overview of conducting patent searches, effective trademark searching and types of intellectual property including trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secrets in “Introduction to Intellectual Property for the Inventor and Entrepreneur.” The second session from 1 to 4 p.m. will be an interactive training session on how to use patent and trademark databases and search tools to conduct preliminary patent and trademark searches in “Hands-on Training: How to Conduct a Patent and Trademark Search.” The cost for this session is $15. The seminar will be led by staff of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trademark Depository Library Program. The workshops will be held at the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls. Participants are encouraged to register early as seating is limited. The workshops are sponsored by the NIC Idaho Small Business Development Center, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program and the University of Idaho Library.
