NIC's United Way fundraising events raise more than $13,500

|photo1|This year's North Idaho College United Way Week fundraising campaign raised approximately $13,500 for United Way through various events. A total of 12 teams participated in the chili cook-off dressing to the theme “For the Love of Books” and raising $883, an increase of $231 from the amount of money raised from admission to last year's event. More than 200 people attended the event. In addition, the silent auction raised more than $1,750 and the bake sale raised $261. Approximately 90 NIC employees participated in the pledge card drive, which raised more than $10,000. Other fundraising events included a campus fun run, which raised $175, and a Hairy Legs Contest that resulted in NIC Academic Adviser Lewis Watkins having his legs shaved when the event yielded $221. “The NIC United Way fundraising campaign was a great success again this year,” said Assistant Vice President for Planning and Assessment Kathy Christie, who led the campus committee that organized the event. “The enthusiastic campus response was truly appreciated.” Winners of the 12th annual NIC United Way Chili Cook-Off were: Judges Choice

  4. 4th place: Workforce Training Center's “Wizard of Oz”
  5. 5th place: Associated Students of NIC's “Pirates of the Chili Cook-Off”
