NIC Student Support Services director elected to state board
North Idaho College Student Support Services Director Barb Lundberg was recently elected president of the Idaho Association of TRIO Programs, a position she will hold for a two-year term.
TRIO programs, funded through the U.S. Department of Education, prepare disadvantaged persons for successful entry into, retention in and completion of postsecondary education.
As president of the Idaho Association of TRIO Programs, Lundberg will serve as a member of the board of directors for the Northwest Association of Special Programs for the four-state region, which includes Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
NIC's TRIO programs include the Educational Opportunity Center of Northern Idaho, which is funded for $200,000 per year to assist 1,000 eligible adults in Idaho's five northernmost counties to enroll in a college degree or certification program.
Lundberg oversees NIC's other TRIO program Student Support Services, an academic assistance program focused on helping participating students stay in school and successfully graduate from NIC and transfer to a four-year institution. SSS offers tutoring, individual instruction, academic advising and mentoring services.
SSS is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and received $228,825 last year to serve 133 NIC students. For More Information
