Gonzaga assistant coach to speak at NIC Booster Club luncheon

Gonzaga University assistant men's basketball coach Bill Grier will be the featured speaker at the North Idaho College Booster Club luncheon at noon Tuesday, Jan. 25 at the Hot Rod Café in Post Falls. As the defensive coordinator for the Bulldogs, Grier has developed the program into one known for its defense as much as its offense. After serving six years under Dan Fitzgeralf as the restricted earnings assistant, Grier was promoted to a full-time assistant coaching position for the 1997-1998 season when former head coach Dan Monson became head coach. Grier decided to stay in his current position after Monson accepted a head coaching position at the University of Minnesota and Mark Few was hired. Gonzaga (13-4) moved up to No. 11 in the latest Associated Press college basketball poll. The NIC Booster Club holds its regular weekly meetings Tuesdays at noon in the Coeur d'Alene Resort's Shore Lounge. The meeting is held at a different location on the last Tuesday of the month and typically features a guest speaker. The public is welcome to attend any of the weekly meetings. Information: (208) 769-3348.
