Workshops help people prepare for NIC Job Fair
North Idaho College will help prepare job seekers for the NIC Job Fair April 22 with a series of workshops in March and April.
The workshops begin Monday, March 14 with two separate half-hour informational sessions at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Blue Creek Bay Room of NIC's Edminster Student Union Building covering what to expect and how to prepare for the NIC Job Fair. The sessions will be presented by Sherry Wallis, director of the NIC Workforce Training Center Qualified Worker Retraining Program.
One-hour workshops on creating resumes will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6 and at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 7 in the Driftwood Bay Room of NIC's Edminster Student Union Building. NIC Career Center Director Gail Laferriere will lead the April 6 workshop and Marla Hobbs-Hill of the Idaho Department of Commerce and Labor will present the April 7 session.
Hobbs-Hill will also present a workshop on interviewing skills and techniques from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 20 in the Blue Creek Bay Room of the NIC Edminster Student Union Building. Laferriere will cover the same topic from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21 in the Driftwood Bay Room of the Edminster Student Union Building.
As one of the region's largest job fairs, the NIC Job Fair Friday, April 22 will feature 50-100 regional employers seeking part-time and full-time as well as permanent and seasonal employees.
The job fair will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Christianson Gym on NIC's main campus and will feature various community agencies seeking employees for the manufacturing, health care, law enforcement, finance, education, hospitality and government fields. Employers at the fair will be seeking individuals interested in both part-time seasonal and full-time permanent employment.
This year's event is sponsored by NIC in cooperation with the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls Area Chambers of Commerce, the Idaho Army National Guard, Idaho Department of Commerce and Labor, Safeway, Inc., Schweitzer Engineering Labs, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, U.S. Army and Wells Fargo.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
