NIC's jazz band and jazz choir to jazz up the season
Friday, April 22, 2005
The North Idaho College Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Co., a choral jazz group, will spice up the season with music that will get the audience jazzed up for summer.
“Swinging into Summer” will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 30 in Boswell Hall Schuler Auditorium on NIC's main campus.
The NIC Jazz Ensemble will perform a program of jazz tunes by George Gershwin from Porgy and Bess, such as “I Got Plenty O' Nuttin',” “My Man's Gone Away” and “Summertime.”
Jazz Co.'s 12-member choir will perform favorites, such as Peter Knight's arrangement of “I'm a Train,” as performed by King's Singers, the Kirby Shaw arrangement of “Java Jive” as performed by Manhattan Transfer and the Boyz II Men version of “Yesterday.”
JazzCo. will feature Todd Butler on piano, Jacob Johnson on bass and Adam Osborne on drums.
The concert is free and open to the public.
