Men's soccer team clinches inaugural Scenic West Athletic Conference title

The NIC men's soccer team closed out Scenic West conference play Oct. 15 with a dramatic 2-1 overtime win against Salt Lake Community College. Sophomore Garga Caserta tied the match with 44 seconds left to play on a penalty kick after freshman midfielder John Prugh drew a foul just inside the Salt Lake penalty area. Sophomore forward Manuel Arceo then finished the match eight minutes into the first overtime on a breakaway fed by Caserta.
With the win, the Cardinals clinched first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and won the regular-season title in the inaugural season of SWAC play.
