NIC community education classes offered in Sandpoint
There’s still room to enroll in community education classes focused on national parks and creative writing offered in Sandpoint this spring through the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center.
“Visit Our National Parks” will be offered in one session from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the NIC Sandpoint Center, located at 101 N. Second St. in Sandpoint.
The class will use a slide show of photographs to teach participants about the geological history and significant geological features present in the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and Zion national parks. Mark McFaddan, who has more than 20 years of experience teaching geology for NIC and the University of Idaho, will lead the class. He has been active in geological mapping for the Idaho Geological Survey for the past 15 years.
The course fee is $25.
The six-session class “Breathing Life into Your Prose” will be offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays from March 1 through April 5 at the NIC Sandpoint Center.
The class will focus on the art of creative writing and skills to vitalize prose and learn awareness of the rich and varied experiences of life. Rebecca Gordon, who holds a master’s degree in creative writing, will teach the class.
The course fee is $49. Space is limited.
