Slam poet to perform and lead workshop at NIC

|photo1|Slam poet Buddy Wakefield will entertain audiences at North Idaho College with his poetry performances at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 14 in the NIC Activities Center, on the lower level of Edminster Student Union Building on NIC’s main campus.
Wakefield will also lead a workshop on slam poetry at noon March 14 in the Blue Creek Bay Room of Edminster Student Union Building.  Slam poetry is the modern competitive art of performance poetry that puts dual focus on what is being said as well as how it is being said.
Wakefield is the 2005 individual world poetry slam champion. He currently resides in Seattle, but has performed worldwide including televised performances on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam and other networks.
The event is free and open to the public.
