NIC soccer program signs several recruits for 2006 season
Several athletes recently accepted scholarships to play for the North Idaho College women’s soccer team during the 2006 season.
McKenzie Favero, of Ben Lomond High School in Ogden, Utah, helped lead her team to a second-place finish in the 2005 state tournament. She was named team MVP and Region 11 MVP in 2005 in addition to being selected to the all-state first team and all-area first team. She was named to the all-region first team all four years of high school and received second team all-state honors in 2003 and 2004.
“McKenzie will bring some great quickness and skill to our team next year,” said NIC Head Soccer Coach Dan Hogan. “She is a creative attacking player I expect to contribute immediately to our program.”
Lauren Winterholler, a graduate of Idaho Falls High School in Idaho Falls, Idaho, was a four-year starter in high school. She was named to the all-conference first team in 2004 and 2005 and was an academic all-conference player from 2002 to 2005.
“Lauren is an athletic defender who can defend any attacker and she provides a great addition to the attack with her quality long passes,” Hogan said.
Jillian McAndrews, of Mead High School in Spokane, Wash., was a three-year starter in high school. She was named to the all-Greater Spokane League second team and was a state cup finalist in 2005 with the Spokane Shadow.
“Jillian is a versatile player who can play in defense or the midfield,” Hogan said. She has good skill and quality experience playing club soccer for one of the best clubs in the state of Washington. I expect Jillian to make a great impact to our team next year.”
Erica Sonnenberg was a two-year starter at Centennial High School in Boise, Idaho.
“Erica is a strong, fast player who can either play defense or forward,” Hogan said. “She is an aggressive player who plays hard whether she is scoring goals or preventing them from being scored and her aggressiveness will help our team’s effort when it counts the most.”For More Information
