NIC softball players earn regional honors

Several North Idaho College softball players were named to all-region teams in Region 18 of the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Pitchers Kelcey Cavan, of Skyview High School in Billings, Mont., and Melodee Mildenberger of Hamilton High School in Hamilton, Mont., as well as Christine Shollenberger of University High School in Spokane, Wash., and Spring Montgomery of East Valley High School in Spokane, Wash., were selected to the all-region first team. Short-stop Angie Boardman, of University High School in Spokane, and outfielder Michelle St. John, of Skyview High School in Billings, were named to the all-region second team.

The NIC softball team (34-18) won the Region 18 softball championship May 6, earning its first-ever berth to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament May 18-20 in Plant City, Fla. The tournament schedule is available online.
