Softball players named to NJCAA Academic All-American Team
North Idaho College softball players Stephanie James of Coeur d’Alene and Vanessa Wood of Hamilton, Mont., were recently named to the National Junior College Athletic Association 2005-2006 Academic All-American Team, which honors sophomore athletes for maintaining a 3.6 GPA or higher.
James, catcher, was the valedictorian of her Coeur d’Alene High School class and maintained a 3.87 cumulative GPA at NIC for 2005-2006. She is a physical therapy major at NIC. James played 51 games this season, posting 37 hits, 6 doubles and a .296 batting average.
Wood, outfielder, maintained a 3.63 cumulative GPA for 2005-2006. She played 38 games this season and had a .266 batting average.
This year’s NIC softball team (34-18 in the regular season) won the Region 18 softball championship in May, earning its first-ever berth to the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament. For More Information
