Dec. 11: NIC women split with CSI
The Lady Cardinals of North Idaho College split with No. 13-ranked College of Southern Idaho in the opening weekend of Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) play. After a disappointing overtime loss (66-64) Friday night, the NIC women bounced back on Saturday to up-end the Golden Eagles 74-73.
NIC improved its season record to 7-3 overall and is now 1-1 in SWAC play.
NIC freshman Simone Jordan led the Cardinals in scoring both nights with 17 points and 23 points while freshman Cassie Pilkinton scored in double digits both nights. Sophomore Kay Hill led the charge on defense with a tremendous effort on National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American Maria Moore. Sophomore Niki Scott led the Cardinals in rebounding with 9 each night.
“Our young team took a big step Saturday rising to victory in a very intense game against a very good team” said NIC Head Women's Basketball Coach Chris Carlson.
So far this season the Cardinals have beaten two nationally-ranked teams. The NIC women’s team returns to action Dec. 28 and 29 at Wenatchee Valley College in Wenatchee, Wash., before returning to SWAC play on the road at Snow College on Jan. 5 and 6. For More Information
