Women who are experiencing a major change in their lives are encouraged to participate in the three-week “Opportunities” class offered through North Idaho College’s Center for New Directions.
The class will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Jan. 29 through Feb. 16 in Siebert Hall Room 111 on NIC’s main campus.
“Women in transition are women going through a change in their lives, which makes them feel they need to start over,” said Center for New Directions Coordinator Carol Haught. “This could be the ending of a marriage or relationship, a change in physical or emotional health, loss of a job or a business, recovery from addiction or empty nest syndrome. Classes like this are helpful because they can provide structure to an unstructured time, the support of instructors and peers, practical strategies for rebuilding a successful life and a sense of home and possibility for the future.”
The class will teach women how to build self-confidence and create a positive attitude and self-image. It also offers information on preparing for employment or furthering education. Guest speakers in the class will teach effective communication styles and assertiveness.
Participants in the class will have the opportunity to take free assessments to discover strengths and elements of their personalities.
The class is free, but participants must pre-register by calling (208) 769-3445.
