North Idaho College softball player Shelby Gonzales has signed to play for the University of South Carolina next season.
Gonzales, from Moses Lake, Wash., earned first team All-Region honors as a catcher last year. She also earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region and Scholar-Athlete honors and was a leader in RBIs for the National Junior College Athletic Association during her two years at NIC.
At NIC, she holds records for home runs in her career as well as in an individual season. She also holds season records for RBIs, slugging percentage, base on balls and runs scored.
The University of South Carolina is a Division I school in the Southeastern Conference.
