Community members encouraged to join NIC choirs

Community members and students are welcome to audition for North Idaho College’s choirs.
Auditions for Jazz Co., the college’s vocal jazz ensemble, will be during the ensemble’s first rehearsal from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22 in Boswell Hall Room 128. Music for the audition will be available at the time of the rehearsal. A maximum of 20 singers will be accepted. The group specializes in vocal music from the jazz genre and performs eight to 10 times per year, including a possible tour in March 2012. Familiarity with the jazz vocal style is recommended.

No audition is necessary to join the NIC Cardinal Chorale, but singers must be able to match pitch and sing for the choir director to determine the appropriate voice section. The Cardinal Chorale sings four concerts per year and meets Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Aug. 23 in Boswell Hall Room 102.

Auditions for the NIC Chamber Singers will be from 1 to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 and Thursday, Aug. 25 in Boswell Hall Room 102. Music for the audition will be available by Friday, Aug. 19. The NIC Cardinal Chorale rehearses regularly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 to 2:15 p.m. and performs eight to 10 times annually, including a potential tour in the spring of 2012.

Participation in NIC’s various choir groups is open to students and community members.
