Congratulations to the women’s volleyball team who finished the regional tournament at NIC this weekend as the Region 18 runner up! The Cardinals earn a trip to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship in West Plains, Mo., Nov. 17-19 along with regional champion College of Southern Idaho, who swept NIC in the championship game Saturday (25-19, 25-18, 25-23).
Kudos All-Region 18 first team selection Yang Yang and Janele Vogt, who also were named to the All-Tournament team. Sierra Pancho was named to the All-Region 18 second team and Mariah Smith received honorable mention. First-year NIC head coach Kandice Kelly received Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) Coach of the Year.
Kudos also to the men’s and women’s soccer teams who fought hard in district championships this weekend in Arizona and Kansas, but didn’t earn a national berth.
