NIC students coordinate lake plunge to benefit food bank

Community members are invited to take a plunge in Lake Coeur d’Alene at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 to help the Coeur d’Alene Community Action Partnership food back provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need.

Participants are encouraged to bring a frozen turkey or a food donation (Thanksgiving meal items such as gravy packets, cranberry sauce, canned pumpkin and evaporated milk) for entry to the “Plunge for a Cause” and raffle. For each item or every pound of turkey donated, participants will receive a raffle ticket for prizes donated by local sponsors. Raffle winners will be announced at 11:20 a.m. and the lake plunge is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

The event is organized by students in NIC’s Resort/Recreation Management program, which requires them to coordinate a community event as part of their event planning class.
