North Idaho College students will “Camp Out to Stamp Out” homelessness from 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1 to 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2 in front of the Edminster Student Union Building.
The students will sleep out in the cold to raise awareness of homelessness and collect supplies needed for the Fresh Start homeless drop-in center in Coeur d’Alene. Items such as warm clothing, blankets, food, personal hygiene items and sleeping bags will be collected and donated to the center.
Participants are also welcome to join the camp out beginning at 6 p.m.
The event was coordinated by students in the event planning class at NIC, who are tasked with designing a community event as part of their class curriculum.
