North Idaho College will present its “Sounds of Christmas” concert in Boswell Hall Schuler Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4.
The “Sounds of Christmas” concert will include several holiday-themed pieces by the NIC Wind Symphony led by Terry Jones. The band will perform two commissioned pieces that will premier during the concert, including “Holiday Bell Carol” by Tom Tucker and Gerard Mathes’s “Little Bell.”
NIC’s Cardinal Chorale, Chamber Singers and Jazz Co. jazz choir will perform classic holiday pieces such as “Ave Maria,” “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” and “You’re a Mean One, Mister Grinch.”
The NIC choral groups, which are conducted by Max Mendez and accompanied by Carolyn Jess, will then join forces with the NIC Wind Symphony for the traditional holiday sing-along of well-known Christmas carols with the audience, such as “Winter Wonderland,” “Silver Bells” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.”
The concert is free and open to the public.
